Environmental Events

The greatest threat to our planet is the belief that someone else will save it.These are challenging times. The environment is under assault as never before. We can no longer sit back and watch what unfolds. The urgency of the climate crisis demands that protecting and healing the environment take center stage in our lives. Understanding the urgency, the Board of NMEAC is working to expand our base and create opportunities for everyone to become part of the solution rather than remaining part of the problem.

We are partnering with other local groups and agencies working to mitigate climate change, shut down Line 5, become a 100% renewable energy community, protect our trees and clean water, prevent urban sprawl, and preserve and protect our special region.

1 Square Foot: The Threat of Neonicotinoid Pesticides

Lena FreijJoin NMEAC for a fascinating presentation by Lina Freij of NRDC (National Resources Defense Council) on the science behind the threats posed by neonicotinoid pesticides, aka “neonics,” to pollinators, biodiversity, and our own health, as well as their surprising prevalence in our environment.

1 square foot of grass can have enough neonics to kill 1 million bees

The popular pesticides contaminate soil, water, and plant life on a nearly unprecedented scale, driving mass losses of birds and bees, and raising alarm bells for wildlife, clean water, and human health.

RSVP below to receive your link to join the webinar from Zoom.

50% of people are exposed to neonics regularly
