    Workshop Brewery in Traverse City, MI

    Women's March TC 2020

    The Women's March will take place from about 1-3pm beginning at Workshop Brewery.

    Marchers can gather at the Workshop Brewery, 221 Garland Street and march through downtown Traverse City.  This year’s message is “Change Comes in (Blue) Waves” Please wear blue if you choose and /or pull out those pink knit pussy hats that have served us so well.  Participants will line Grandview Parkway for an hour or so and then head back to the Workshop Brewery for speakers, community networking and conversation.  They will be accepting donations for Justice for Our Neighbors.

    Attorney General Dana Nessel is fighting hard to shut down Enbridge Line 5 across the Straits of Mackinac, to block Trump Administration rollbacks of environmental and public health protections, to protect rate payers and to protect Michigan voters' rights. Join us on Tuesday, January 21 when we will honor Attorney General Nessel with the Sierra Club Michigan Chapter's 2019 Environmentalist of the Year award.

    Andy Balaskovitz reports on the complex and consequential issues around fossil fuels, energy and climate for the Midwest Energy News. Andy's reporting has elevated some of the most critical issues facing the Great Lakes state at a time when decisions are being made about the future of our region and the planet. Sierra Club is honoring Andy with the Environmental Journalism Award for 2019.

    The Future of Paddling Sports on the Boardman River

    Community forum on “The Future of Paddling Sports on the Boardman River”

    Sponsored by the Brook Trout Coalition, Interlochen Public Radio and Traverse City Tourism

     Location: McGuire Room at the Traverse Area District Library.


    Panel members will include Steve Largent, Boardman River Program Director for the Grand Traverse Conservation District; Troy Daily, the owner of Paddle for Pints and Kayak, Bike and Brew; Lt. Joe Molnar, DNR commander of conservation officers in Traverse City; and Patrick Ertel of the DNR’s Natural Rivers Program.

    The program will be moderated by Peter Payette, the executive director of Interlochen Public Radio.


    The public is invited. Admission is free.  We hope to see you there.
